App for vehicle aftercare product
Smartphones became the UK’s most popular way to go online last year, according to communications regulator Ofcom. They’re now owned by more than two-thirds of adults, up from 39% in 2012 and a third of internet access is done by phone. Tablets such as iPads account for almost 20% of web browsing , while laptops have fallen to 30% and desktops are barely used at all.
With the rise of smart devices, apps are becoming an increasingly important tool for accessing online materials and tools. Various studies have found that the average smartphone owner has around 25 apps on their device and The App Store® has 1.5 million different apps available for download. As a dealership, these statistics relate directly to your customers so it is vital you are catering for your customers’ needs as the technology changes.

Car Care Plan App
Financial add-on products are a key aspect of any vehicle sale – whether that’s warranty, GAP insurance or breakdown cover. Claiming on an aftercare product should be as quick, easy and straightforward as possible. If the customer is happy with the service they receive, they are likely to share their experience with others and recommend your business to their friends.
One way Car Care Plan is making life easier for customers is through the launch of a new app – compatible with both Apple® and Android™ devices – that lets customers submit their cosmetic warranty and alloy wheel insurance claims. Add-on products give your dealership the edge over competitors and innovations such as Car Care Plan’s app provide a further incentive to help you close the deal.
The app was launched to accommodate growing mobile phone use and is designed to allow a simple, smooth and easy claims process . In the event of a scuffed alloy or scratched paintwork the customer simply has to:
- Download the app
- Login with their name and registration number
- Select the relevant product they are claiming on
- Upload photos of the damage
- Press submit.
A member of the customer services team then gets in touch to finalise the claim. The app also offers the advantage of letting customers view their claim history.
Technology advances
Smartphones and mobile applications are just one way customers are using technology when researching and buying a new or used car. These developments give them more power during their purchasing journey but they also give dealers new ways to access their customers and tools to make their lives easier.
